After a corporate career at the NASA Johnson Manned Space Center (NASA JSC) in Houston, Texas, it was an easy step into the world of hospitality, to offer southern hospitality in our waterfront guest houses (also known as vacation homes) to those visiting the area for business and/or pleasure. Visitors come from near and far to enjoy all the area offers and then spend a night or two. Topping the list of activities are the Kemah Boardwalk restaurants and amusement park, dinner cruises, Galveston Moody Gardens, the Historic Strand, Galveston beaches, waterfront activities, fish houses and water sports. In the fall of 1996 Beacon Hill Bed and Breakfast was established in Seabrook, known for its mild winter climate on the Texas Gulf Coast, it is a popular year around destination and is ranked the 3rd largest concentration of boats in the U.S.
The first location is situated on the Seabrook Point, east of Hwy. 146, near the Fish Houses, overlooking Galveston Bay and directly across from the Kemah Boardwalk. The Clear Lake Channel flows out of Clear Lake, into Galveston Bay and separates my property from the Kemah Boardwalk. This unique acreage is a natural year-round habitat for water fowl such as the brown pelican, black crowned heron and the yellow crowned heron. The average elevation of the surrounding area is seven foot above sea level. The Beacon Hill property literally ‘stands out’ because it is a man-made hill of 25 foot elevation, offering a commanding view of the yachts playing on Galveston Bay and the Clear Creek Channel. Two small frame guest houses sit in the center of this wonderful oasis joined by a pink domed gazebo made of iron and concrete.
Relax on the private deck and watch the contrast of luxury yachts at play while pelicans, herons and seagulls glide overhead. Likely you will hear a flock of wild Mock Parrots before you see their beautiful Irish green feathers. The sea breeze is intoxicating and acts as a natural stress reliever, which we all need from time to time. At night, the Kemah Boardwalk transforms from a picture post card to a beautiful pool of neon lights that may remind one of the Las Vegas Strip. This vacation retreat is the perfect place to step away from the crowd while still enjoying the sights and sounds of where the action is, right at your door step.
In 1998 the Lakehouse B&B was added, located at 3701 NASA Parkway, on Clear Lake. As the largest B&B in Seabrook, it stands apart by being on the water at Clear Lake, offering a large event lawn with shade trees, a long private bulkhead that provides an area perfect for meditating, sunbathing, fishing or just holding hands with your special someone, or watching sun sets and the stars. We feature a hot, country style breakfast, served with southern hospitality. Guests are very pleased with the peace and quiet our B&B offers, and an added bonus are restaurants within walking distance for those who rather leave their car parked for the night.
